686. The Lost World (Arthur Conan Doyle)

Cover of first edition

Synopsis from Amazon UK:
Headed by the larger than life figure of Professor Challenger, a scientific expedition sets out to explore a plateau in South America that remains frozen in time from the days when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Seemingly impossible to penetrate, this lost word holds great danger for the four men, whether from fiendish ape-men or terrifying prehistoric creatures.

I think some time ago there was a TV show about this story... It wasn't a vry good show, but I kinda liked it... The book must be good...

There was a show called "The Lost World." The premise and some of the characters are based on the book but what happens on the show is completely different from the book. I watched the show as well and liked it. :)

If you liked "Jurassic Park" (book) and the Indiana Jones movies, you'll like this book.
