454. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (J. K. Rowling)

Synopsis from Amazon UK:
J K Rowling's sequel to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone carries on where the original left off. Harry is returning to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry after the summer holidays and, right from the start, things are not straightforward. Unable to board the Hogwarts express, Harry and his friends break all the rules and make their way to the school in a magical flying car. From this point on, incredible events happen to Harry and his friends--Harry hears evil voices and someone, or something is attacking the pupils. Can Harry get to the bottom of the mystery before it's too late?

Harry Potter's books are so good! Sometimes people think that just because those books are selled a lot they aren't great books, but in this case that isn't true... And the books are much better than the movies, too...

Good points all. But, despite agreeing with you that the books are much better than the movies, I have seen every movie and will watch the new one in the theater. The mind works in mysterious ways ... or stupidly in my case.

Well, me too... lol I'm always curious on movies about books I've read... But I think the only movie I liked more than the book was The Lord of the Rings: the two towers. I liked the movie but I just can finish reading the book. I tried about 3 times and I soon become bored and quit... :)

I meant I CAN´T finish reading the book... Oops...

LOL! I got through "Lord of the Rings" by skipping all the poetry, songs, etc. -- does that count as reading a book?

Oh yes. I also did that. The songs are... well, boring. As the poetry... The movies have some humor and the relationships between caracters are more normal than in the books... That's why I like them better. Did you read the Hobbit? It's better than the Lord of the Rings, I think...

The Lord of the Rings movies are one of the few cases in which the movies are better than the books (though I'm sure a lot of Tolkien fans (fanatics?) would disagree with me).

True. I've seen the Pride and Prejudice movie and i liked it... I wonder if the book is as good as the film? I know you've read it...

Which "Pride and Prejudice" film did you watch? I've only seen the one with Colin Firth -- REALLY good if you haven't seen it already. The Colin Firth version is pretty long so not a lot of the book has been cut out. The book is well worth reading. It's a little slow in the beginning but it gets better about 1/3 of the way through when the plot picks up. I think the reason to read Austen's books isn't the plot but the dialogue and humor which make her books so enjoyable to read.

Yes, I saw that movie - the one with Keira Knightley and Colin Firth.I think the interest in reading books where the action is developed in old times like the victorian england, is the society and it's costumes and ways. I've read some Anne Perry's books that show how that society was very well... Great books.
